- I used it to drill 25 10 inch deep holes in S Louisiana clay. Using a Dewalt 18V drill, it burrowed 25 holes on a single battery in 2nd gear/speed position. I waited one day after a thunderstorm while the clay soil was soft and semi moist. Very little effort was needed while drilling each hole. On a few holes the bit grabbed a root or a small rock. You must instantly release your drills trigger switch. DO NOT attempt to jerk the bit out out of the hole!!! Simply reverse the drill to extract your bit, Either start a new hole or re-drill your existing hole at a slightly different angle. . . A few holes I needed by existing trees created lock jam problems. I found out if you run the drill and do not apply any pressure the auger will slowly cut though Small roots. It may jam and lock a few times. Change your angle slightly. After drilling all holes the bit lost some paint but, Is perfectly fine and should core many more holes in the future.
