No replacement hatchets available so guess people buy plastic cheaper version for replacement hatchets. Hatchets likely to wear out before strike board needles. Probably would buy plastic version since hatchets not available just to reduce ling term expense. It requires a certain level of force and rotations to consistently stick on strike board needles.
