- UPDATE #2 – February 20th, 2025: OSIGHT sent me a replacement unit that I took to the range, since my original one failed after 50rds. …Well the second one I bought (yes I initially bought two) also failed, but at ~350rds fired. I use the 2MOA dot, & noticed while firing [just before failing] the 2MOA dot, changed itself to the 32MOA circle with the 2MOA dot. I then fired one last magazine thru my Kimber CDS9 pistol using 115gr ammo, & the optic lost its dot. Pressing the side buttons doesn’t display “green flash” of light between the &- illumination buttons anymore, which I think happened to my original OSIGHT S that failed. I believe the relatively “sharp recoil” from the compact Kimber CDS9 is beating up the electronics – leading to failure. I have my first replacement unit (on a full sized handgun, which isn’t nearly as violent when recoiling). I think this optic might not be built sturdy enough for snappy-firearms. I’ve updated my review from 4 stars to 1. I’m going to continue testing in the coming weeks, to determine if the full sized handgun also makes the electronics fail. UPDATE #1 – February 13th, 2025: This is my first update to my original review below. As mentioned, I bought two OSIGHT S optics, the first one failed after ~50 rounds fired. Thus, I installed the second optic, & took it out yesterday, & today shooting a total of ~250 rounds of 115gr 9mm ammo. Thus far the second optic is still working great (I uploaded a 3rd photo showing the red dot is still working)! …OSIGHT did reach out to me about two days after I posted my original review asking me if I wanted a refund, or a replacement, which is fantastic customer service. I’m going to go with getting a replacement, to keep running these optics on my handguns! & since this second optic is working just fine, & their customer service is very responsive, I’ve updated my review from 1 star, to 4 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW – February 6th, 2025: I bought two of these OSIGHT S enclosed optics, because I wanted to try a new enclosed optic that wasn’t made by Eotech, or Holosun. Installation, & tolerances were excellent on my Kimber CDS9 via its’ direct RMSc mount. I took it to the range with a full charge, but after shooting roughly ~50 rounds of 9mm 115gr ammo, I realized the dot wasn’t visible anymore. I didn’t bump it, I didn’t press any buttons (other than the brightness adjustment). Thus, I tried holding down the “-” button, to cycle thru sighting-options, but no optic appeared. I tried making it as bright as possible, I also tried holding the “ ” button just to see what that does, I even held down BOTH buttons (don’t know if that does anything). Nothing happened, no dot appeared. I then decided to bump it against the wood table at my shooting station, just to see if a gentle bump might wake it up. Still nothing… I continued to fire another ~40ish rounds thru my Kimber CDS-9, but the red dot never reappeared. As I’m writing this [sad] “review,” I’m still messing with the optic! You can clearly see in my uploaded photo, that there is no red dot in my optic, & that the charging house has a 75% charge. Also, when I put the charger on the optic, it still displays the optic as being FULLY charged (see that uploaded picture). Now I’ve got one dead OSIGHT S optic, that I fired normal 9mm 115gr ammo thru, & that means it’s time to install the second OSIGHT S optic that I bought to see if it also fails on me the next time I go to the range!
