- While replacing old vacuum hoses on a 1984 Toyota 22R engine I noticed my old BVSV valve was crumbling away. I can’t quite tell if this replacement is the correct part but it’s certainly a good physical match. Opens at about 130F, as tested in a pan of water. Genuine Aisin part, as near as I can tell. Very little access to get a wrench in (on my engine at least; this part is common on many Toyotas). Had to buy a 19mm deep socket and grind a slot to fit the vacuum nozzles. Truck running better now; little vacuum system leaks and malfunctions can cause all sorts of poor performance that can be trick to trace. Always good to find and fix any problems with the vacuum system!
