- I had a big project coming up to remove the weeds, including roots intact, from my mulch beds. In total, there was 5,000 square feet of landscaping mulch beds to remove weeds from. So I wanted to be sure I would be using whichever tool was fastest/easiest/most effective. So I purchased 5 different tools, most of which were at the highest end of the price range. I tried all five out on my mulch beds. This tool won the “tryout”. It is sharp enough and narrow enough to be plunged as deeply as the bottom of the roots. It is sturdy enough to pry the deep roots out without any hint of bending. Yet it is wide enough to dig up broad clusters of weeds when that is also needed. It seems this tool was designed by a user. Great tool!!! I then bought extras for gifts to family and friends.
